Evgenia GEORGANDA (Greece)
Psy.D, is the co-founder, chief administrator, trainer and supervisor of “gignesthai”, the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology.In 2019 she was elected membership secretary in the board of trustees of FETE.
She is a certified psychotherapist working with individuals, groups and couples in Athens, Greece.
Evgenia Georganda holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Tufts University and a Doctorate in Psychology from Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Her primary orientation is Existential-Humanistic and she is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and of Division 32 of Humanistic Psychology since 1986. Evgenia is a certified psychotherapist and member of the European Association of Psychotherapists (EAP), a member of the Greek Association of Psychologists (SEPS), of Greek Psychotherapists (NOPG) and of Greek Counselors (HAC). From 1987 she has a private practice in Athens, Greece, working with individuals, groups and couples.
Evgenia has worked extensively with individuals with chronic and life threatening illnesses and is interested in the impact of death awareness on psychological change and growth. She has also taught psychology at both graduate and undergraduate programs in private colleges and the Greek University. She has lectured and run seminars both in local and international congresses. Evgenia is the author of three books and two albums and has written articles for journals and collective works both in Greece and abroad.
Since her return to Greece in 1987 she was always interested in the development of the existential approach in her country. In 2002 she initiated a series of workshops in Athens for Existential Psychotherapy. These led, in 2004, to the formation of the core group of «Gignesthai», the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology. The training program in Existential Psychotherapy and Counseling at “gignesthai”, where she is the chief administrator, trainer and supervisor, was launched in 2009. In 2014 it was certified as a European Accredited Psychotherapy Training Institute (EAPTI) for Existential Psychotherapy by the European Association of Psychotherapists (EAP). In 2013 she was elected secretary of the National Organization of Psychotherapists of Greece (NOPG) and in 2019 membership secretary of the board of trustees of the Federation for Existential Therapy in Europe (FETE).
