Sergey IGUMNOV (Belarus)
Professor Dr. Sergey Igumnov is currently the Member of Council of the Aii-Russia Professional Psychotherapeutic League (since 2014), as well as the Past President and Member of the Presidium of the Board of Belarusian Association of Psychotherapists (since 2003); International Member of the American Psychiatric Association (since 2014); Professor of Clinical Psychology Departmentat the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after M.Tank, BSPU (2013-Present).
Born in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, in 1967, Doctor S. Igumnov completed his medical trainingeducation at the Minsk Medical Institute, 1990(Pediatrics Faculty).
Subsequently, he conducted his postgraduate training in General Psychiatry (Minsk, Clinical Mental Hospital, 1990-1991) and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Russian Medical Academy for Postgraduate Training (Moscow, 1991 and Saint-Petersburg, 1996, under supervision of famous Russian Psychotherapists Professor Edmond Eidemiller and Professor Yury Shevchenko) and Neuropsychiatry Department, Medical School of Nagasaki University (Japan, 1996, under supervision of famous Japanese Psychiatrist Professor YoshibumiNakane, M.D., Ph.D.).
He completed his post-graduate research study (doctoranture) in Psychiatry on the basis of Serbski Research Centre of Social and Forensic Psychiatry and Federal Research Centre “Institute of Biophysics” (Moscow, Russian Federation, 1996 — 2000), and obtained the Degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (2000).

Scientific Activity:
Professor Sergey Igumnov has a background in psychiatry, psychotherapy and clinical psychology.
For about 25 years, he has developed and applied methods and techniques that provide to access prevalence rate of mental and behavioral disorders in persons exposed in utero to Chernobyl fallout in Belarus. He is currently involved in the study of intellectual, neurophysiologic and psychosocial assessments were performed at the age 67, 1012, 1516 and 23 years (Igumnov S., Drozdovitch V., 1996-2015).
He I has also conducted the research of the effects of prolonged and exclusive breastfeeding on child behavior and maternal adjustment as a part of large, randomized international trial (Kramer, M.S., Fombonne, E., Igumnov, S. et al., 2008) as well as the study of clinical and social functioning, quality of life, maladjustment of HIV-positive injection-drug consumers (Igumnov S.,2010, 2015); socio-psychological mechanisms of suicidal behavior of adolescents and young people in modern megapolises (on the example of cities of Minsk and St. Petersburg)(Igumnov S., 2012).
In addition, he has experienced in other key aspects of the scientific administration of projects (e.g. staffing, human subjects research protection, budget), collaboration with other researchers from the European Union, Canada and Japan, and production of peer-reviewed publications from each project.
Professor S. Igumnov is a member of working group on suicides and homicides of European Psychiatric Association (head of the group — Professor CarlaGramaglia, M.D., Italy) as well as International expert in the area of psychological aspects of radiation safety (project “Nuclear Emergency Situation Improvement of Medical and Health Surveillance”, Centre d'étude sur l'Evaluation de la Protection dans le domaineNucléaire (CEPN) 28,rue de la Redoute, F-92260 Fontenay-aux-Roses; Web: www.cepn.asso.fr) and clinical addictology.
